21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

The goal of 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting is to draw closer to God.

As 2024 begins, we want to start the year with a 21 days set apart to seek God with all our hearts in prayer and with fasting. We know that it’s in times like these where God reveals His heart and changes ours.

Fasting

Fasting is the spiritual practice of disconnecting with the things of this world so that you can focus more on connecting with God in a greater way. During these 21 days, we're encouraging everyone in our church to do the following:

Fast some type of food.  This could be something as simple as sweets and coffee/pop, or something more involved like the Daniel Fast. The absence of "choice" foods helps us find our comfort and joy in God alone during this time instead of food and entertainment.

Fast some type of media. We highly recommend you choose to forego some or all forms of media including: movies, TV, Facebook, or all of the above. In our culture this is one of the best ways to create space for Bible reading/prayer and turn down the "noise" and distraction of our lives so that we can focus on loving God and loving people.

Prayer

Pray everyday. We find it helpful to choose a place and set amount of time (i.e. office for 10 minutes; drive to work for 15 minutes) and commit to that for the entire fast. In prayer, repent of any sin, ask God for help with any problems, seek guidance on specific issues, and praise/thank him for all he is and does.
HOUSE OF PRAYER: The building will also be open Tuesday to Friday at 12pm for prayer, with corporate gatherings. Additionally on Wednesday at 5am.

Scripture

Read your Bible everyday. Reading your Bible is one of the best ways to learn more about God and experience specific, personal direction from his Word. We highly recommend choosing a 21 day reading plan during this time. We recommend downloading the YouVersion Bible App (it's free) and choosing a Reading Plan or just Google "21 day bible reading plan" for ideas. One simple idea if you're not tech-savvy is to read through the book of John, one chapter each day, since it has 21 chapters.

Total Devotion Challenge

The Total Devotion Challenge spans these 21 days, inviting us to dive into scripture, gain fresh insights, and ponder what true devotion means:

Embracing total devotion means building a closer relationship with God, growing to be more like Christ, and living out His plans for us every day. It's about making a consistent effort, letting go of our own desires, and seeking a deeper connection with God through our actions and service.

Fasting enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God. It prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. When deciding on a fast, we encourage you to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
